“We are privileged to work in such pristine and beautiful surroundings, solving the many different challenges agriculture brings us. I believe that improving the structure, organic matter and fertility of a soil is essential to successful crop cultivation.”

Crookes Plantations Limited (CPL)

The first investment in Swaziland was made by CBL way back in 1959. Today this Estate has 2400 ha under irrigated cane located on the banks of the Usuthu River. The farm is a significant contributor to the regional economy.

CBL Agri – Zambia (Pty) Limited (CAZ)

CBL acquired the Zambian Farm in 2009. The farm consists of 440 ha of highly productive cane. At the time of acquisition it was intended that the farm would be the first step in establishing a much larger cane farming operation in Zambia, but no suitable expansion opportunities have been identified.

Renishaw Farm

The Renishaw farm near Scottburgh on the South Coast of KZN is the site of Samuel Crookes first cane farming and milling operation back in the 1860 ‘s. Today CBL farms approximately 700ha of dryland cane at Renishaw, which is also being developed for commercial, residential and industrial applications.

Riversbend Farm

The Riversbend farm is located in the Nkwalini Valley near Eshowe in KZN. The farm comprises 1400 ha of cane under irrigation, but is considered marginal due to periodic severe water shortages, poor soils and the distance to the Felixton sugar mill. It has accordingly been leased to Tongaat Hulett for a period of 15 years which expires in 2024.
